Bespoke build - curved tank in a circular room
Understanding our client's vision is at the heart of what we do
This fish only marine system in a North London home is 3.5 metres long by 2.5 metres high. It provides a beautiful focal point for a reading room.
The aquarium is curved to complement a circular room and, whilst this presented a few challenges, has made for a truly unique aquarium.
The pipework was imported from America especially for the aquarium and 15 degree 2” and 3” elbows were used to run pipework round the room, through a wall and into the adjoining garage, where the bespoke filtration system is housed.
The system features:
- automatic feeder
- programmed LED low-energy lighting
- mechanical ventilation
- chiller
- automatic top-up
- on-site salt water mixing facility
In order to accurately capture the client’s vision, we used a series of moodboards. These were then followed closely when aquascaping in order to achieve a striking, high-end finish to this exceptional aquarium.
Photoshoot for the BBC at the London Aquarium
We know aquatics inside and out
Being a Dive Master I was heavily involved in the media promotion of the London Aquarium as an aquatic theatre. The insight that was gained from diving with the animals I worked with is knowledge that applies to all the aquariums we now care for.
This BBC photoshoot took place in the green turtle tank at the London Aquarium. The kids were in the tunnel that runs through the aquarium.

"Be more dog" filming for O2 advert
Creating the right conditions for the photo shoot and the animals.
Behind the scenes at the O2 filming for the "Be more dog" advert, we worked as part of the props department ensuring the welfare of the fish on the day of the photo shoot.
We supplied the fish for the duration of the photo shoot and monitored their welfare before, during and after the filming took place. The advert was aired on television during the summer of 2014 and a spoof also appeared on YouTube.

Creating an underwater environment
As a diver at the London Aquarium I was part of an advert filmed for the United Colors of Benetton.
The advert was to illustrate the world as it would be if global warming continued.

Bespoke commercial system installation
This fish house installation for Charterhouse Aquatics features a water changing system that makes water changes quick and easy and allows for topping up with R.O. water at the turn of a valve.
A network of pipes run to and from a bespoke filtration system.
We installed a bespoke filtration system which is required to cope with a massive biological load. The system incorporated a fluidised sand bed, massive protein skimmer with feed into trickle filtration, 100micron mechanical filtration, UV sterilisation, and a heater and de-nitrification system.
Good water quality is the key to healthy fish.
